Many women are suffering from a common
disease called Endometriosis. It can affect
any woman from her first period to menopause.
Endometriosis occurs when the tissues that
line the uterus (endometrium), grows outside
the uterus. When the tissue grows outside the
uterus it’s usually found behind the uterus,
on or over the ovaries, bladder, bowels, and
on the tissues that holds the uterus in place.
It’s not yet known why this happens. When
the tissues grow outside the uterus it
develops into tumors or implants. When the
blood from the endometrial implants becomes
damaged, it develops into cyst, scar tissue,
and inflammation. These growths are usually
benign but can cause heavy periods, pain and
even infertility.
The lining of the uterus will thicken each
month to get ready for pregnancy. If the
pregnancy does not occur because of the
endometriosis, the lining of the uterus sheds
and bleeding will start. Growths from the
tumor will cause problems with bladder
function and blockage or bleeding in the
intestines.
Symptoms most commonly associated with
endometriosis are:
- pain in the abdomen
- menstrual cramps
- chronic lower back and
pelvic pain
- pain during and after sex
- intestinal pain
- heavy periods
- and
infertility.
The cause of endometriosis is not yet
known. There are some theories of why
endometriosis occurs. One theory is that the
disease is genetic and runs in the family.
Another is during menstruation,
menstrual tissue backs up through the
fallopian tubes into the abdomen where the
implants and tumors will grow.
One theory that has been proven through
research is diet has major role in women
getting endometriosis. Mucus forming foods,
hormones and even antibiotic can cause the
uterus to become imbalanced. It's vital that
the liver and the colon be kept healthy and
not let toxins enter the blood stream
causing the body to become imbalanced. Meat,
dairy products, sugar and white flour all
contribute to acquiring the disease.
Steps that can be taken to prevent
endometriosis are:
- remove foods that contain hormones such
as beef, dairy, and poultry
- eat foods that are high in fiber and
rich in the B complex vitamin and vitamin E which
are; millet, buckwheat, rye, whole oats, and
brown rice
- Adding a vitamin and mineral supplement
to your diet to help the body heal itself
- Vitamin A helps provide for healthy red
blood cells and a healthy immune system.
- Vitamin B will protect the liver, nerves,
brain by eliminating bad estrogen.
- Vitamin C aids in reducing the amount of
blood you lose during the menstrual cycle. It
also keeps women’s hormones in balance and
lowers the tenderness that can occur in the
breasts.
- Calcium, magnesium, and potassium helps to
eliminate menstrual cramps, muscle pain, and
excess water weight.
